Cadets
The Club has for many years run an annual program to provide
an opportunity for local children to sail. The focus is to introduce
the juniors to the safe use of small sailing craft using our
fleet of Blue Peter, Topper and more advanced dinghies.
As juniors progress, we start basic race activities and use experienced
helmsmen within the club and visiting national coaches for intensive
training weekends.
We have new entrants for each year's program and we now have
a group of juniors who represent the club at Topper and Laser
Travellers, National and International events.
We also have juniors who have progressed to the National
Sailing Squad training program. These
successful outcomes are remarkable for a Club of our
size and reflect the enormous efforts of club members
in the sailing program and fund raising activities to
achieve this.
For
the 2008 season, Family sailing sessions will resume on
Saturdays at 11am, following the opening muster on 19th
April.
We
are planning to run sailing sessions for Senior, Intermediate
and Beginner cadets on weekday afternoons after this -
specific days and times will be announced once we have
an idea of numbers of sailors and helpers !
